It's a late night in the Metro area of Phoenix, Arizona. Under the artificial glare of street lamps, a car can be seen slowly approaching. Active sensors on the vehicle radiate a low hum. A green and blue 'W' glows from the windscreen, giving off just enough light to see inside–to a completely empty driver seat.
The wheel navigates the curb, parking as an arrival notification pings on the phone of the person waiting for it. When they open the door to climb inside, a voice greets them over the vehicle's sound system. "Good evening, this car is all yours - with no one upfront," it says.
a. The car seems to be running fast.
b. A driver is driving the car with a 'W' sign.
c. When the car comes near the passenger it sends a notification on his/her phone.
d. The door of the car opens automatically.
e. A voice greets the passenger inside the car.

Shiokara, Japan
Most Japanese food is simple: it sounds delicious, and it is delicious. But how about raw squid mixed with salty, fermented squid belly? This is shiokara, a Japanese staple, and one I used to hate. However, I'm slowly coming around. Once you get used to it and you have it with good conversation, this food takes on a whole new beauty.
Jellyfish, China
This dish can appear challenging to those of us who only associate jellyfish with the scary nature of some species of them. There's also a rubbery texture to jellyfish that some find a little challenging. However, the Chinese know what they're doing with these things. They mix jellyfish into salads, pair it with chicken, stir it through sesame oil...it's all tasty, and it's all low-fat.
Green ants, Australia
You can keep your witchetty foods, as far as I'm concerned: too soft, too many guts. If I'm going for bush food, it's definitely green ants, little insects that are pulled from trees, lightly crushed between your hands, and then eaten. They're lemony, peppery, and delicious. Local producers are even putting them on top of goat's cheeses now, with lemon myrtle, for extra energy. Seriously good.

Dear Sabrina,
Thanks for your letter, and it was my immense pleasure to hear from you. You asked me to tell you about my favourite day of the week. Well, it's definitely Friday.
Why I like Friday is because I have my favourite subjects at school: PE and Chemistry. Chemistry is particularly interesting because it involves practical experiments. Moreover, our chemistry teacher, Mr. King, has a wonderful sense of humour. In PE, we usually play basketball, which is my favourite sport. Since I'm tall and active, I perform well and our team usually achieves success.
On Fridays we have French classes, which I find challenging. But, I enjoy the ICT class after the French class. At the moment, I'm working on designing a webpage for our basketball team. This has helped me to boost my technical and creative skills.
After school, I hang out with my friends, and then in the evening, I play football at the sports centre. On Friday nights, we sometimes go to parties or to watch movies. We can relax a bit on Friday evenings because there's no school on Saturday.
In your next letter, tell me about your favourite day at school.
Love
Dani

A Plastic Ocean is a film that makes you think, and then act. We need to take action on our dependence on plastic. We've been producing plastic in huge quantities since the 1940s. Drink bottles, shopping bags, toiletries, and even clothes are made with plastic. Only a small amount of it is recycled. What happens to all the rest? This is the question the film A Plastic Ocean answers.
The film begins as a journey to film the blue whale. But during the journey, the filmmakers (journalist Craig Leesson and environmental activist Tanya Streeter) make the shocking discovery of a huge, thick layer of plastic floating in the middle of the Indian Ocean. This discovery led them to investigate further. In total, they visited twenty locations around the world during the four years, and they made the film.
The documentary premiered in 2016 after extensive research. There are beautiful shots of the seas and marine life. But these are contrasted with disturbing scenes of pollution. We see how marine species are being killed by all the plastic we are dumping in the ocean. The message about our use of plastic is painfully obvious. We are the cause as well as the solution to the problem.
In the second half, the filmmakers look at what we can do to reverse the tide of plastic flowing around the world. They present short-term and long-term solutions. These include avoiding plastic containers and 'single-use' plastic products as much as possible. Reuse and recycle the plastic bags. The filmmakers also stress the need for governments to work more on recycling and look at how technology is developing that can convert plastic into fuel. The world uses five hundred billion plastic bags annually. Over 300 million tons of plastic are produced every year, and at least eight million tons are dumped into the oceans. These numbers are hard to imagine, but the consequences are real. Once you've seen A Plastic Ocean, you'll realize the time is now to do something.
